We have another great year of Superkhana events in 2012 - reports and photos below. 2011 reports, photos and results are below. 2010 Superkhana reports, photos and results can be seen by clicking here. If you haven't competed for a while, you'll enjoy our streamlined events and fabulous courses. There's always a friendly atmosphere on the day. And if you've never participated, these are ideal events for first-timers - we always have a few. If you're not sure, come along and have a look at one of our events - it's free.
The Speed Dome is at the Eastern end of Eddie Barron Drive, in Midvale. Spectator entry is free and there is an excellent, shady viewing area with refreshments available on site. Action starts 10am.
Kwinana Superkhanas are held at the Perth Motorplex, Anketell Rd, Kwinana Beach. Excellent viewing of the whole course. Free entry for spectators.
Take a look through our Superkhana web pages (links below) and see the fantastic variety of cars which has competed over the years. And the cost is still just $75 or $110 for the Long-Course for the best value motor sport you'll enjoy. Kwinana Superkhanas $135 per car. There's no need to modify your car, which will be checked prior for roadworthiness. Drivers need a good quality helmet. long sleeves/pants and a competition license - many car clubs can issue a CAMS license and we can issue AASA Licenses on the day for $50 for a year's License. It's all straightforward and the easiest way to enjoy your motor sport.

This year we’re incorporating the Dowerin Dirt Superkhana into the Theo’s Run weekend of the Dowerin Motor Festival in the wheatbelt town. The dirt event is a huge amount of fun – a great chance to test your car control on excellent, wide, smooth dirt roads around grass areas used annually for the Dowerin Field Days displays, which are safe and make for great viewing. Just $75 per entry. The date is Saturday, October 27th. BIG FUN!

September 16 Porsche Kwinana Superkhana
We had perfect weather and a good mix of Porsches competing in the September Porsche Kwinana Superkhana. There was some spectacular and very committed driving seen! Somehow the front engine cars seemed attracted to the witches hats - and the idea of spinning. Nonetheless, some great driving was witnessed on the day. Congratulations to Gary Jacobs on his faultless runs in the Cayman S. He finished very closely followed by Allan Guelfi's 911 GT3, then several seconds back to Rob Slater, in one of the oldest cars in the event, a 1967 911R replica. Results below.

July 29 Kwinana Superkhana - Results, report, photos
A lovely, sunny winter's day greeted competitors for our July Kwinana Superkhana. As you can see from the photos we had an excellent variety of cars entered. Standouts included Bruce Hawley's Cobra (he's most often seen behind the wheel of a couple of potent Skyline GTRs), Rod Willis' newly repainted V8 MX5 now in traditional Mobil colour scheme, and Elias Fazel's potent Monaro CV8. Spectacular drives included Adam Williams' Falcon Ute on the fine edge, but expertly handled, Andrew Van Ballegooyen's sharp Lotus Exige and the launch-master Lyall Austin in his very well sorted WRX. And great to watch Steve Pfeiffer performing excellent handbrake turns. This seems to be a lost skill these days (more's the shame).
Thanks to the group of officials who helped out on the day: Natalie, Tim, Ian, Brock, Martin and Paul. The event ran smoothly, as usual. And aside from a few witches hats being tipped and a couple of wrong ways there were no dramas.
Congratulations to our 'podium finishers' on their excellent performances. Lyall was never threatened on the day, putting in blinding performances in his WRX throughout. Garage penalties put a few people out of better placings than the otherwise would have achieved. Interesting to see the rear-wheel drive cars doing well. Second among the AWD cars was Tommy Tram in 6th place. Also good to see one of the older cars right up there - the 1971 MGB of Ross Humphrys in seventh place. Interesting to see almost all of the Porsches so closely placed too.

June 17 - Kwinana Superkhana
We had another excellent day at the Kwinana Superkhana in June. After initially planning a morning session only, we were inundated with entries and opened up an afternoon session too. Both were sold-out well before the event. We had our usual wonderful mix of cars among the entries as you'll see from the photos. Simon Gunson's V8 Capri made it's debut appearance in an AEM event. As soon as the bonnet was opened in the Pits there was a swarm of people peering at the engine bay. And it performed as loud as it looks... Owen Le May's turbo Nissan-engined BMW 5-series seemed like an unusual thing, but it certainly had some performance as Owen tried to come to grips with the new car. Rod Willis' 6-litre MX5 sounded fantastic, as one might expect. All three of these cars spent a lot of time sideways... Spectators were impressed by how Ben Saggers' Datsun 1000 Coupe acquitted itself on the course - the non-turbo 1400cc car going much better than a Datsun 1000 ever did. Mike Gallagher's 1960 MGA was certainly one of the prettiest cars on track. And everyone loved Keith Hawley's Corvette Z06. After the first run dried out the surface the day remained dry and mostly sunny, after a week of rainy days. A big thank you to our officials: Natalie, Krystal, Martin, John, Brock, Tim and Ian for their assistance throughout the day. Congratulations to our top place-getters on the day - especially Neil Richardson after his disastrous DNF last time.

April 29 - Afternoon session only Long-Course Superkhana
We conducted a Superkhana for the WRX Club in the morning, and a Long-Course Superkhana open to all in the afternoon. After torrential rain the day and night before, we were pretty lucky on the day... some rain for early runs made the track wets for the WRX Club event, but by the last run the course was completely dry. And the rain held off for the afternoon session fortunately. Perhaps the forecast bad weather kept entry numbers down too. There was some great driving during the day - and the odd spin and excursion in the afternoon session, but no harm done.
Congratulations to Matthew Oneill who took out fastest time in the morning session, closely followed by Nick Strates and Steve Metlitzky a bare fraction apart from eachother. Results chart appears below the photos.
In the afternoon, Neil Richardson undid the disaster he had in his last event to come out on top of the time charts in his turbocharged pocket rocket Suzuki Swift. David Glover risked the wet weather in his Lotus 7 Turbo and came in second place outright, followed by recent newcomer Jason Sinclair in his rapid BMW M3. Well done all.

April 15 Kwinana Superkhana
We had a great day at the first open Kwinana Superkhana - excellent weather, an excellent mix of cars (including a lot of quite powerful cars) and a course which everyone loved. Aside from one car's early exit, which it drove home from, the day went really well and there was some excellent driving witnessed by all present. Congratulations to Jamie Lister who put in some blistering runs - and made it look easy! A well deserved win. The second place in a non-AWD, non-turbo car by Vito Forte in his well-sorted BMW M3 is also notable. RESULTS BELOW.

March 25 - Porsche Club Kwinana Superkhana
As the first Kwinana Superkhana event, the afternoon session held for the Porsche Club worked out very well. Comments from competitors praised the long, fast course. There were no Wrong Ways, even though some drivers feared they might make a mistake. One car spun every time it went out - but it was the sold non-Porsche - a very fast, light turbo-ed Westfield.
A great mix of Porsche models participated, ranging from early 911s through to a brand new Boxster Spyder, and some competition-prepared cars among the group. Participants came from far and wide - one all the way from Geraldton especially to compete.
The results can be seen below. Winner John Zelesco is new to the club and certainly showed speed and smoothness on his runs. Congratulations also to Allan Guelfi and Gary Jacobs for taking the other podium positions.

March 11 - MG Car Club Superkhana
A warm day for the MG Car Club's annual Superkhana Day, using a long-course layout saw some pretty good driving by the participants. Several driver were first-timers, and it was also good to see some of the people who compete at the venue regularly in the mix. A few cars seemed off song, some improved as the day went on. Most people's times improved considerably after the first run, and were pleased that the slowest of 4 times is dropped from the results.
Well done to Bob Schrader for his efforts in keeping the Lotuses honest, splitting them with his quick runs in the MGB. Congratulations to David Glover for fastest time of the day and overall first place. Second-placed MG driver Rami Brass just held off Tim Harland making a welcome return in his Silver Bullet.

February 26 Long-Course Superkhana - Report, results & photos
A huge day at the Speed Dome worked out very well with a brilliant variety of cars on track. Times were close at the pointy end of the field. Congratulations to those at the top of the results sheet. Great to see that Julian O'Hara has mastered that stonkingly fast Ford GT40 - and managed a brilliant result with an unwieldy car. Impressive performances too from Neil Richardson in his Suzuki Swift (6th place) and Bob Schrader in his MGB (9th), beating some very potent cars. Results are below.
We had some great feedback from competitors on the day and in emails afterwards. This from a first-timer: "I felt that the event was superbly organised, but retained a casual and welcoming atmosphere which I enjoyed immensely. I will be sure to come back again", and from another entrant: "Thank you for running the event yesterday. I thoroughly enjoyed it , all the other competitors were a very friendly bunch which was great. Look forward to the April event...".

January 29 Long-Course Superkhana
After a major heatwave Sunday's Superkhana took place on the first day with a reasonable temperature, much to the relief of competitors and officials. Ads you'll see from the photos, we had a great variety of cars competing again. A new scoring format was tried out, with the slowest of each driver's four runs being dropped from the results. Feedback we received was all positive about this.
Thanks to our officials: Helen, Tim, Martin Brock and Ian for their work on the day. There was some very impressive driving on the day - from the novices to the more experienced drivers. Great to watch some very effective driving being done. Congratulations to our place-getters, and to Steve Metlitzky for taking out first place in his potent Lotus. Nine different makes of car in the top ten places is really good to see. Results are shown below.
And if you're wondering about the 1965 Lincoln in the photo below, it was Chris Caruso checking out the course. He wasn't going very fast - and all the hubcaps remained in place...
